We’re road-tripping this week – our first road trip in a couple of years.
I can’t wait.
We’ll be meeting the newest member of our extended family, skiing at our old stomping grounds and taking in a few sights and favorite stops along the way.
It’s going to be stupendous.
After graduating, my first job required regular travel and the packing process would take a while.
Too long. My twentysomething single self had lots to do.
Enter the packing list.
I created a packing template and use it to pack for every trip (of course it’s evolved over time).
No matter the final destination, ninety percent of what gets packed on any given trip is the same. Maybe ninety-five percent.
There’s no sense in re-creating the wheel with every adventure. The list minimizes pre-travel nerves, gives me back time and delivers peace of mind. Priceless.
The children have their lists, too, and pack their own bags. Of course, we do a final audit together but most decisions are their own.
Do you have your own template? It’s easy enough to create.
Either before your next jaunt or right now, simply do a brain dump of everything you need for a trip. Everything. It may seem tedious but it’s the start to ensuring you never forget fill-in-the-blank again.
Keep the list handy and add as items come to mind.
You’ll need a few trips under your belt to ensure *everything* gets captured but this will position you well for that next bon voyage.
Something We Love: Yeti tumbler
Yeti obsession is a real thing. This tumbler is my go-to on a daily basis and for road trips. It keeps beverages warm (and cold) for hours and the metal is a more sustainable choice over paper and plastic to-go cups. Choose from a variety of colors. And yes, it’s a bit pricey but we promise it will be the last travel mug you ever buy.
