|A few weeks ago, my children turned ten.|
To mark the occasion, I bought myself a piece of jewelry. This is only the second time I’ve ever done this – purchased a significant bauble for myself.
In the days leading up to this momentous birthday, my heart fluttered and my memory bank was in overdrive.
So much has transpired in the past decade. So much.
There have been highs and lows, tears of joy and tears of sadness, and a kajillion moments in between.
And because I’m human, some of those moments haven’t been pretty. While I may not like or be proud of those moments, I do love them in their entirety for they are part of my children’s lives, ours as a family and mine as a mother.
So much of parenting is re-parenting ourselves and acknowledging our pre-existing baggage. Counseling works wonders as does self-compassion.
Admittedly, this has been one of the hardest skills to learn yet I persist because it makes a difference. And because I want to model this for my own children so they can benefit. Life is a full experience and self-compassion will come in handy countless times over.
On my right wrist, is a stack of gold bangles ever-present for years. The various bracelets have changed but the stack remains constant.
Nestled in the middle sits a shiny new bangle representing the all-encompassing love, and the life-changing, awe-inspiring, and utterly indescribable experience of motherhood.
And engraved inside is a love note to me.

|Something We Love: The Apple Card|
We’ve been testing out the new Apple Card and so far, it’s a winner. Touted as a new kind of credit card, it makes banking easy with daily cashback, immediate approval, and easy monthly payments. Not to mention the physical card is metal and has zero visible numbers. Kinda cool.
